Bent Faurschou-Hviid
Bent Faurschou-Hviid was a main hero in Denmark during WWII as he was a key asset to the Danish resistance movement. Hviid nicknamed "Flammen" for his red hair and his partner Jorgen Haagen Schmith were Denmark's top resistance fighters carrying out the best resistance acts and becoming the most famous. Without these two more importantly Hviid since he was the one who executed all the resistance, Denmark's resistance movement would not have been as successful and maybe not even a threat to Germans at all. An example of one of Hviid's reststance acts was when he sabotaged a Citroen garage resulting in the destruction of 6 German cars and tanks. Hviid was believed to be the most sought resistance fighter by German's for all his resistance acts against Germany since Germans offered the most loot to someone who brings back his body. The same day he and his partner went under cover as police, German officials arrested all of Danish police force. With them under code name they were not recognized and Hviid later escaped from prison and so did his partner with a gun shot wound. These two were the top made the best duo for resistance fighters Denmark had during WWII and helped Denmark's resistance movement become a success. These two especially Hviid showed that you don't need war to fend off the enemy, you just need to irritate them to the point that they leave.
Bent Faurschou-Hviid was born January 7th 1921 in Asserbo, Denmark. He grew up living a normal life then was he was 20 joined the Danish resistance group in Copenhagen. Cheers from the troops could be heard as Hviid's dead body was finally dragged away. Hviid and his partner were posthumously awarded with the US Medal of Freedom by the President at the time in 1951. Hviid and his partner are featured in 2 Dutch movies both very successful. And now on Hviid's memorial stone in Dutch it reads "in memory of the freedom fighter" "The best must die."
